On November 1 at Bayou Pointe Event Center at ULM, The Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana is sponsoring a unique opportunity to learn about safety issues surrounding the areas of the growing epidemic of Fentanyl, Child Death Review, the risks and effects of pornography to our youth,

Learning Objectives:

Presentation 1:
Pornography Addiction and Sexual Abuse in the Community

By the end of this presentation, counselors should be able to:

1. Recognize the prevalence and impact of pornography addiction and sexual abuse in our community.
2. Identify signs and symptoms of pornography addiction and sexual abuse in clients and their families.
3. Implement best practices in helping clients prevent sexual abuse within their families.
4. Demonstrate effective strategies for working with families who have experienced the consequences of pornography addiction directly or indirectly through family members.

Presentation 2: Preventing Human Trafficking and Child Sexual Abuse

After this presentation, counselors should be able to:

1. Understand the risks and vulnerabilities of children to human trafficking and sexual abuse.
2. Acquire the necessary tools to educate and empower families in preventing victimization.
3. Recognize signs of child trafficking and abuse in clients.
4. Develop intervention strategies and support systems for victims of child trafficking and abuse.

**Presentation 3: Cultural Sensitivity in Counseling**

Following this presentation, counselors should be able to:

1. Gain a deeper understanding of the cultural diversity in our area.
2. Appreciate the importance of cultural awareness in the counseling profession.
3. Engage in discussions about cultural topics to enhance their cultural competence.
4. Apply culturally sensitive approaches in their counseling practices to better serve clients from various backgrounds.

Presentation 4: Substance Use Disorder and the Fentanyl Crisis

At the conclusion of this presentation, counselors should be able to:

1. Understand the current state of the Fentanyl crisis and its impact on the community.
2. Identify the signs and symptoms of substance use disorder in clients.
3. Implement evidence-based approaches to work with clients suffering from substance use disorder.
4. Connect clients with appropriate resources and treatment options to address their addiction.

Presentation 5: STI / STD Awareness and Family Care

By the end of this presentation, counselors should be able to:

1. Stay updated on the latest findings regarding STI/STDs prevalent in the community.
2. Educate families on STI/STD prevention, testing, and safe practices.
3. Identify community resources available for STI/STD testing and treatment.
4. Provide guidance on how to keep children safe from the risk of STI/STDs through education and preventive measures.

These learning objectives aim to equip counselors with the knowledge and skills necessary to address critical issues within the community and improve their ability to support clients and families effectively.
