Psychopharmacology Review: Common Psychiatric Drug Mechanisms and Side Effects

This presentation will review the mechanism of action and adverse effects of common medications used in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.

The content will address diagnostic criteria of each of the disease states listed.  There will be a brief overview of each of the diagnoses, followed by the evidence-based treatments of each of the diagnoses.  A review of expected positive outcomes as well as unwanted side effects will be reviewed for the common medications used in each of the disorders.  This will also be reviewed from the perspective of the neurotransmitters involved in each of the disorders and treatments.
