_The LCCA Spring Workshop is a free benefit to members, but is open to all looking to gain more knowledge about working college students and young adults. The topics for this years workshop focus on couples therapy in the college setting and examining cultural authenticity as a strategy to prevent burnout
There will be two presentations:
A Different World: Utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy in Couple's Therapy With College Romantic Relationships

Program Description:
The college years are pivotal points in a person's life where they learn how to navigate the world independently, have new experiences, and engage in romantic relationships. Students are gaining insight into their relational expectations and how to advocate for themselves in a romantic relationship. Therefore, the college years are developmentally critical points that they may need assistance navigating to help them establish healthy relational patterns. This presentation will briefly survey current relational trends on college campuses. This session will utilize the framework of emotionally focused therapy to help mental health professionals conceptualize issues in college romantic relationships and provide a framework for couple's therapy.
Starting With The Man In The Mirror: Cultivating Cultural Authenticity in Therapy As A Strategy to Prevent Burnout.

Program Description:
Counselors aid clients in utilizing their cultural strengths to complete their desired goals. However, clincians are often unaware of how to utilize their cultural strengths, which can benefit the therapeutic process, or how to handle microaggressions. This presentation aims to help clinicians identify cultural strengths and brainstorm how to employ those strengths in the therapeutic relationship to prevent therapist burnout.
