Developed in the 19060s by Bernard and Louise Gurney, Filial Therapy, a play therapy model, is a closely related form of child-centered play therapy that involves the parents or caregivers directly as the agents of therapeutic change. This workshop will present an overview of Filial Therapy and its goals, objectives, and techniques used to strengthen the child parent relationship.
Child Parent Relationship Therapy April 26, 2024 10:30-12:30pm
Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, a play therapy model, is a play-based treatment program for young children presenting with behavioral, emotional, social, and attachment concerns. This workshop will present goals, objectives, and techniques used in CPRT as well as the tenets of CPRT which focus on the overall goal to strengthen the quality of the parent-child attachment bond.
Group Therapy May 17, 2024 10:00-12:00pm
This seminar is designed to assist those who work with children in understanding a philosophy and rationale for group work with children and preadolescents. The course will focus on the goals of group play therapy, the role of the play therapist, screening and selection of group members, the developmentally responsive use of play and other expressive/creative arts with children and preadolescents, planning and structure of sessions with emphasis on principles as well as application of group therapy methods and skills
Approved for 2.0 CE clock hours in Diagnosis for each session
LSUHSC Counseling Department has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 3058. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. LSUHSC Counseling Department is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
