What you have always wanted to know but were afraid to ask: Processing cultural enactments using mindful facilitation

4/19/2024 - 4/20/2024
8:30 AM - 4:45 PM
Location: Tulane School of Social Work, 127 Elk Place Cost: $80-$400; Approved for 12.5, New Orleans

This conference is designed to bridge the gap between cultural awareness and cross-cultural dialogue. While clinicians are aware that they need to address issues of difference and microaggressions in their practice, all too often these enactments create unresolved ruptures because oftentimes we freeze when faced with unintended or even, deliberate slights. This conference will present didactic and experiential material grounded in principles of cultural humility, trauma-informed practice, and Mindful Facilitation. Participants will gain a practical skill set to help navigate differences with individuals and groups and how to effectively lead challenging discussions about social location and experiences with oppression.
