This course is designed to prepare counselors, social workers, and similar professionals to identify and address abusive situations, with a particular emphasis on those arising from religious ideologies. It begins with a comprehensive introduction to the subject, then progresses through the three key phases of intervention in abusive relational systems. The curriculum covers the four critical identifying features of abuse and investigates the various strategies and tools employed by abusers. Additionally, it provides insights into the unique challenges presented by abuse that is rooted in or justified by religious beliefs, offering tailored strategies for effective response and support.
