Working with children can be very rewarding but it also comes with some ethical challenges. This presentation will discuss ethical considerations counselors must take into account including confidentially, working with divorced parents and cultural competence. The ACA code of ethics will be reviewed as well as certain Louisiana laws that must be considered.
The presentation will review the ACA Code of Ethics and how to interrupt them when working with child and adolescent clients.
Learn how to communicate boundaries of confidentiality with both minor clients and parents of minor clients.
Discuss potential ethical situations that may arise when working with children and adolescents whose parents are divorced.
Discuss ethical situations related to cultural competency that commonly arise with adolescent clients and identify an ethical approach to navigating them.
