Living and working in areas that are prone to hurricanes poses unique challenges in mental health treatment. As mental health professionals it is important to understand the challenges we may experience in working with clients who have experienced/are experiencing trauma related to a hurricane. This training will prepare you as a clinician to be able to feel comfortable working with client’s experiencing trauma responses related to hurricanes, guide you in learning to identify this kind of trauma, and know how to treat in in the therapeutic relationship.
